How does sterilisation of medical instruments work?

The autoclave is first sealed airtight, while a certain amount of demi-water is present in the autoclave. Then the temperature in the autoclave is raised, causing the liquid to evaporate and the pressure to increase. Because of the pressure present, bacteria cannot enclose in air bubbles, so they do not survive the sterilisation process. This makes autoclaving a very efficient and reliable sterilisation method for all your medical instruments.
